Miguel Layún anunció este domingo por la noche, a través de sus redes sociales, que el Torneo Apertura 2023 marcará su despedida como futbolista profesional.
El futbolista, de 35 años de edad, tomó la decisión de poner fin a su carrera deportiva después de 17 años.
“Llegó el día de cerrar uno de los ciclos más bonitos e increíbles de mi vida. ¡GRACIAS POR ACOMPAÑARME EN CADA UNO DE MIS CAPÍTULOS!”

En el emotivo video, Layún, el aún futbolista, recuerda su trayectoria tanto en la Liga MX, donde jugó para Veracruz, América y Rayados, como en el Viejo Continente, representando al Atalanta, Watford, Porto, Sevilla y Villarreal.
La voz en off de Layún narra su experiencia con la frase “todo es culpa de Layún“. Si las Águilas llegan a la Final del Apertura 2023, el 10 de diciembre podría marcar su último partido como profesional, aunque esta fecha está sujeta a cambios según el desempeño del equipo azulcrema.

“Y después de 17 años de futbolista profesional llegó el día, finalmente llegó el día que después de tanto tiempo me pregunto, ‘¿en serio? ¿Todo fue mi culpa?’.
“Debutar con un equipo de primera división a los 18 años, convertirme en el primer mexicano en debutar con un club de la Serie A italiana, regresar y llegar al más grande para aprender que aquí, la presión lo es todo.
“Y así como esa presión te tira, es la misma que te levanta. La que te da el impulso para seguir de pie y conseguir lo extraordinario. Es ahí cuando aprendí que hay que dejar de escuchar para poder luchar“.

Hasta ahora, Layún ha ganado tres títulos de la Liga MX (dos con América y uno con Rayados) y una Copa MX con Monterrey.
Además, en Europa, se coronó en la Primeira Liga de Portugal con el Porto y participó en uno de los torneos más destacados del fútbol internacional: la UEFA Champions League.
