With 32 showdowns between Mexico and Honduras in the history books, this is the rivalry with most games played in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.
Honduras has become Mexico’s threat in the Hex, and even though the CONCACAF Giant leads in victories against Los Catrachos, they have found a way to stop El Tri in important games.
Here are some reasons why Mexico shouldn’t act so confident when facing La H:
1. México acts smug because they have players in Europe.
Well, Honduras also has important players in foreign leagues. Eight players, to be exact. Some play in Great Britain and others in México.
2. Chicharito? Pfff, please!
Honduras has Emilio Izaguirre on their side.
3. el cuau, el matador, Borgetti – Mexico is all about history, but come on!
Honduras has big names that have been Mexico’s personal headaches. Carlo Costly was responsible for El Aztecazo. Remember Carlos Pavón's hat-trick in 09? Don’t forget about Noel Valladares, either. His no goals mantra has left Mexico scoreless, and he was also present for El Aztecazo.
4. Sombreros and Mariachi? NAH..
Honduras’ supporters shout like nobody’s business. They’re not afraid to show their true colors every time. There’s no one like them.
5. Mexico, CONCACAF’s giant? ha..
Honduras have beaten them in El Azteca. They have kept them from scoring in their stadium. They know how to get on their nerves. They also know México suffers every time they face each other.
